Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning Kevin Stewart MSP visited CCG Homes’ flagship development Riverford Gardens (Tuesday 14/01/2020) as the final range of luxury homes are being constructed.
CCG Homes has been live on the Riverford Gardens project since receiving planning permission in March 2018. Overlooking the White Cart River and Auldhouse Park, the 156 home development includes one-and-two-bedroom apartments, three-bedroom semi-detached houses and four-bedroom terraced villas with over 91 properties now sold including 25 taken during the winter period and 5 since the turn of the year.
The Minister was given a tour of the 2.36ha site as well as both show homes including the three-storey terraced villa, a contemporary take on the traditional Glasgow south terrace home, which was the recent winner of the Herald Property Awards Best Family Home (Small) for 2019.
Housing Minister Kevin Stewart said: “These quality new homes will give owners a sense of pride and belonging, as well as contributing to a vibrant community in the south of Glasgow. This development is testament to the strength of Scotland’s new build sector, which last year saw the highest increase in both starts and completions since 2008. It is also helping us deliver more housing across the country, providing people with a warm, safe place they can call home.
“I am particularly impressed by the energy efficiency of these new homes. When homes have good energy efficiency standards, they are warm, cheaper to heat and produce less greenhouse gas emissions. We will continue to ensure that all homes and buildings across Scotland meet the challenge of the climate emergency.
“It is also encouraging that this development will be home to a number of first-time buyers. Since 2007, the Scottish Government has provided more than £1.2 billion for the shared equity schemes, which have helped tens of thousands of people into homeownership, particularly young people aged 35 and under.”
CCG Homes Managing Director Calum Murray commented: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Housing Minister to Riverford Gardens and show him the progress made since starting on site in 2018.
“Pollokshaws, a transformational regeneration area, has seen significant investment over the last few years with Riverford Gardens now being a major part of that. The development has attracted a wide range of demographics including 27 first-time buyers, who are keen to make the most of the local amenities and will contribute significantly to the local economy.
“We are confident that the demand for our homes is not purely down to the buoyancy of the Glasgow property market. We have invested a great deal in delivering a quality and energy performance standard that sets us apart from other developments in the city and this, complemented by our unique location, is why I believe we are achieving our great sales figures.
“The feedback on the development and the quality of our homes has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to welcoming more purchasers as the year progresses.”
CCG Homes is to embark on a new private housing development launching in the spring with 81 two and three-bedroom home set to be delivered in Cambuslang prior to the final completion of Riverford Gardens in the autumn.Back
