Longer days are fast approaching. A hopeful outlook for a more positive summer in 2021 will still be complemented by the need to remove the baggage of winter and hitting the refresh button. A clean is in order…
Organise!
A tidy desk is a tidy mind. We have spent enough time in our homes to realise the value of organisation and the same can be said for our home – spring is the perfect time for a tidy and a clear out.
All of those winter clothes? Our top tip would be to use vacuum packing which is a great way to pack them away within reach without taking up to much space…we are in Scotland after all, we will need them on more than the odd occasion. Trust us, it is a game-changer.
Lockdown puppy or baby? It’s amazing to think about how many extra, convenient storage solutions are needed to keep up with a growing family but that doesn’t need to be the expense of style and substance. Many leading brands provide varying styles and solutions depending on the room or environment but you can always look at what you have and “upcycle” accordingly. Chew friendly, of course…

Routine!
Finding the motivation to tackle a thorough spring clean can be an excellent way to help you establish frequent cleaning habits to keep your home continuously looking fresh!
Instead of attempting to tackle a full clear out in just one day, tackle items on your to-do list and set daily targets to help you feel accomplished as you check them off the list! Don’t do it all yourself though – a planner can be used for the family with a routine proving to be a valuable learning tool for the younger (or older) members of the household. Spread the load, have a cuppa.

The “I’ll Do It Later”.
Cleaning the oven. Ledge dusting. Upholstery dry-cleaning. We tend to leave them, don’t we? There has never been a person in human history that hasn’t tried to attack their oven and come away with a “that wasn’t too bad, eh?” It does not happen and is the same with our upholstery: we use our couches and throws couches so much but we tend to leave the cleaning to major spillages and marks. Stubborn dirt will be a lot easier to clean if it’s tackled earlier.

Experiment with Scent
Once all the hard work is done, now is the time to spring in the big guns.
Scenting your home is an excellent way to create a fresh and homely atmosphere. The somewhat heavy undertones of winter can be replaced with a light, floral essence of spring. Load up on candles, diffusers and linen sprays – it will make all the difference!
Our scented spring favourites include The White Company ‘Spring Collection’, Jo Malone ‘Spring Blossoms’ Collection, and as a less expensive alternative, Zoflora ‘Hello Spring’ disinfectant, which leaves your home smelling light and fresh, all while fighting against those nasty germs!
